Internet Slow?

Try this utility to reset your Winsock. If you are using Windows XP, here is the way you can launch command prompt after logging in as administrator.

  • Go to Start and click Run
  • Type cmd.exe and click OK.
  • At the command prompt you can now type in the following... "NETSH WINSOCK RESET CATALOG" (without the quotes).
  • Press enter
  • Restart the computer in order to complete the reset. Once machine has been restarted, test to access your network or Internet again. Should see an improvement.

  • Stop the Annoying "There are unused icons on your desktop" Popup Balloon.

    One of the most irritating features in Windows XP is the popup balloon dialog that tells you to clean your desktop. Here is how you fix it...
  • Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties
  • then the Desktop tab
  • then the Customize Desktop icon.
  • Now just uncheck the box for Run Annoying Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days"

  • Stop Skype from displaying phone numbers in your Internet Browser.

    If you're using Skype, you may encounter a different style when viewing phone numbers. Resolve this issue by:
  • Opening your browser
  • in the toolbar, find your Skype plugin icon
  • Simply right click the icon and uncheck the box that says "Turn number highlighting on". That's all there is to it.
  • Internet Explorer prevents Security Code from being viewed.

    If you use Microsoft IE, you may encounter a problem viewing the guestbook Security Code. This fix is quite simple and will take only a minute to get it resolved.
  • Simply open your browser
  • click on the TOOLS button
  • Next, click on the INTERNET OPTIONS tab
  • then click the PRIVACY TAB
  • Now click SITES and in the address of website box, type "", and then click ALLOW. That should fix the problem.
