D Troopers,
For all the Troopers that attended last week’s reunion in Washington DC please send your pictures to Mike G here on the website.
For those that couldn’t make the reunion it was a few days of renewing old friendships and telling lots of stories.
One of the highlights of the week was, for the first time as a D Troop reunion group we visited the Vietnam Wall.  Keith  read the names of each D Trooper that was KIA from 1968-1972 and gave a short report of what had happened to him while others pointed out his name on the wall and others presented a yellow rose in his honor.  Some made etchings of the Trooper’s name. Fellow Troopers also made comments about their lost friends.  Two special guest that came to The Wall and Honor dinner were Sallie Galloway Gill and her husband George Gill.  Sallie is the Gold Star sister of Lt Arthur Lee Galloway that was killed March 27, 1971.  She also made some comments about her brother and thanked D Troop for remembering him and all the other D Troopers lost.
On Wednesday night we had an Honor dinner with the Missing Trooper Table that celebrated those Troopers and friends we lost so many years ago.
We as a group also went to Arlington National Cemetery, visited various graves sites, and observed the tomb of the unknown soldier changing of the guard.
The last day of the reunion was used by individuals to go visit some of the many museums and historical sites in Washington.
Maybe somewhat to my surprise at the end of the reunion there was a bit of an out cry for when and where is the next reunion going to be?   To that I answered, will do our best to find a time and place to renew our friendships and to celebrate those that we lost and continue to lose every day.
I want to that Chuck for taking care of all the finances and his input throughout the entire event. Also to keith who both pushed and pulled me through the planning phases and his persistence in getting the D Troop KIA list correct and complete.  We all owe Mike a great deal of thanks for putting the D Troop website together and keeping it going for all these years, Thank you Mike!  And to all the rest that have contributed to  D Troop in many ways, Thank you!
See you at the next Reunion!
Gary
