Message: I was with D Trp 1/1 Cav in 1965 when I was sent to RVN the 1st,time. I returned to Ft Hood,Tx where I was able to get back with friends in D1/1. I became the scout plt sgt/crew chief/observer, Lt Miller was plt ldr. We trained and deployed for RVN. I went on the ship with aircraft to RVN. That was a trip! We arrived country at Quinon, we off loaded D2/1 Cav. Then we sailed to DaNang and off loaded our acft, we flew all of acft to 101 Abn Camp eagle. That is when I found out that my plt ldr had changed. Lt Skinner had taken over. He was a fine officer to work for. I flew with most of the time. On the day of his death Lt Keith went with us he flew left seat I flew right rear seat as gunner around 1800 hrs. 16 Aug 1968 we took heave fire and almost went down but Lt Keith keep us in the air and back to camp eagle. This was a local recon mission. Iwas wounded bad enough to be evacuated to states. Great site! WO Collin told me about site it's great. THANKS! HOPE TO BE AT THE NEXT MEET
